The Knysna SAPs, the Community Police Forum, the Knysna Safety and Security Initiative and all the security companies and NHWs, meet weekly to review crime in Knysna.
The Station Commander is passionate about the local communities being the eyes and ears of the Police and Security Partners. Often local residents are the first to spot any unusual or potentially criminal behaviour.
Many residents are unable to take part in the NHW Committee or patrol the streets. However, they can be more security-aware.
We are not talking about residents spying on their neighbours It is more about being observant when out and about either walking or driving.
Do not be afraid to report potential incidents to your security companies. They are happy to investigate and may well prevent a crime from being committed.
In the longer term, there may be potential for Street or Area Captains, who can be a focal point for crime information.
